No strings to badminton initiative at TyneMet

TYNEMET College are launching a new badminton initiative this week.

The ‘No Strings Badminton’ scheme is aimed at getting people involved in the sport while also making it a socialable occasion and helping improve fitness.

There are no membership fees and the sessions will be on a ‘pay and play’ basis for adults of any ability. Equipment is provided.

The sessions will take place at the Queen Alexandra Campus in North Shields.

TyneMet co-ordinator Jack Downey said: “The whole point of No Strings Badminton is that you will get to meet other like-minded people on court, have fun whilst getting fitter and improve your playing skills.”

With a co-ordinator hosting the sessions there will be a guaranteed partner on hand each week.

The Thursday sessions begin today and are ladies only from 4pm to 5pm, disability from 5pm to 6pm and open from 6pm to 7pm.
