One more friendly remaining for Rockcliff

ROCKCLIFF Rugby Club’s preparation for the new season draws to a close with a friendly home game lined up against Portobello on August 18 followed by Blyth at home in the first round of the Northumberland Senior Plate on August 25.

Meanwhile the mini and junior sections have organised a family fun day on Saturday starting at 1pm and running until 5pm.

There will be rugby, old school games, face painting, assault course, tug of war, tombola, a barbecue and bar.

Then on Friday, August 24, Rockcliff will host a fundraising event for Langley First School, with an evening with Peter Beardsley, who will give an insight into his career and that of Newcastle United and England players.

The entertainment starts at 7pm, tickets, which include a pie and pea supper, and disco are £10 from the club on (0191) 251 3704 or at Ewen’s Butchers, 7 Seatonville Road, and The Garden Shop, 31 Ilfracombe Gardens.

It is over 18s only for this event.
