Opportunities and tackles missed for Rockcliff XV

A MATCH that Rockcliff should have won against third placed Barnard Castle in Durham and Northumberland division 2, was lost due to missed tackles.

These mistakes cost the red and golds three unnecessary tries.

The Rockcliff forwards were dominant throughout the match, pushing the Barnard Castle scum back metres at virtually every opportunity, and they were well marshalled by man of the match scrum-half Daniel Simpson.

Unfortunately, the backs could not capitalise on this superiority, and the home wingers saw very little of the ball.

The score was fairly close throughout the match, with Barnard Castle never really getting away from Rockcliff.

Opportunist tries from Simon Tindall and stand-off Bryan Stewart were converted by birthday boy Josh Donnelly, who also scored two penalties.

The Rock team will reflect on this match and wonder how they let the result go against them.

Manager Tommy Rendels will curse this run of bad luck, with players and fans hoping Rockcliff will turn the corner soon.

THE Rangers made the trip north for this Northumberland League 3C fixture with a full squad but they were no match for an experienced Alnwick 4th team.

Young prop Dan Atkinson celebrated his birthday with a good performance and the Rangers only points of the game with a try.
