Percy Park boys win fourth cup in a row

PERCY Park RFC Under-16s won the County Cup by defeating Gosforth RFC in the final.

The borough team won an exciting encounter 22-10 at Druids Park.

And the achivement is all the more remarkable as it is the fourth year running the group has won a county cup.

The group of boys first picked up the trophy as under-13s. They followed up that initial success with titles at under-14, under-15 and now under-16 level.

Against Gosforth, they held off early pressure before taking hold of the game to lead 14-3 at the interval.

The second half was much the same as Park dominated, scoring a further try and penalty.

Gosforth scored a late consolation try but Park held on comfortably to take their fourth county cup in a row.
