Rockcliff travelled to Houghton for their last pre-season match with a squad made up of players from all three senior teams.
The visitors started well and were three scores up inside the first 30 minutes thanks to the vision of fly-half Forster and number eight Ross Higginson, making a welcome return to the red and gold jersey.
This accompanied with great runs from Jonny Earnshaw, Chris Keen and Ryan Yellop resulted in some well worked tries for Andrew Telford and Steven Scott (2).
Forster added a further five points with a penalty kick and a conversion before the half-time interval.
With the wind now at their backs, the change in ends greatly suited the home side, who had shuffled their back line around to add more beef to their midfield defence, and as a result Rockcliff had no choice but to fling the ball wide to make ground.
This was easier said than done in the windy and greasy conditions and no further points were added to the board until in the last few minutes of the match, Earnshaw drew in two defenders to release Ryan Yellop who beat his man before stepping round the full-back to go under the posts. A great finish for a young lad who on recent form has a very exciting rugby career in front of him.
A good result for Rockcliff who now turn their attention to next week when they take on Prudhoe and Stocksfield in the first round of the cup.
