Rockcliff begin pre-season warm-up programme

Whitley Bay Rockcliff RFC began their run-up to the new season with a home friendly against Bishop Auckland.

This gave coach Jack Lamber the chance to run his eye over a number of new players.

The next few weekends will see the red and golds play friendlies against South Tyneside College at home on August 10 and Houghton le Spring away on August 17, before they face Prudhoe and Stocksfield at home in the Northumberland Senior Plate first round on August 24.

League action in Durham and Northumberland division 2 commences on September 7 with a home game against Hartlepool.

A number of senior players missed the Bishop Auckland game as they were with other club members taking part in the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge. A party of 17 completed the 24-mile course to raise money for a defibrillator for the club in the process.
