Rockcliffe in seven-try romp against Winlaton

ROCKCLIFF earned their ninth bonus point of the season in a seven try romp against bottom side Winlaton.

The red and golds started strongly, spurning three early chances to score before outside centre James Williams finished off a good move by the backs to cut through to score, converted by Andrew Webster for 7-0.

A simple backs move then set flying winger Steven Scott in to score the first of a brace of tries for 12-0.

Winlaton defended manfully but they had no answer when man of the match second row Leon Smart joined the line to power over the whitewash for 17-0.

The bonus point was secured before the break when full-back Richard Berne finished of another simple backs move for 22-0, converted by Webster for 24-0.

The second half continued in similar vein, and number eight Johnny Birkett finished off a good backs move when he powered over to touch, with Webster again adding the extras.

Steven Scott then scored his second try of the game, and inside centre Bryan Stewart capped off a fine performance with Rockcliff’s seventh and final try of the match.
