A golfer is celebrating a major piece of silverware on her return home.
Tynemouth’s Samantha Taylor won the Northumberland County Ladies Championship Trophy at Hexham.
The 20-year-old is currently on a golfing scholarship at King University, Tennessee, USA.
She defeated defending champion Ami Story (Close House) 2 and 1 in a hard fought final.
With her mother Sharon as her caddy, Samantha had defeated Morpeth’s Grace Anderson 6 and 5 in their semi final.
There was further success for Samantha when she won the Team Shield alongside Tynemouth team mates Rebecca Ferguson and Jenny Bilton.
Samantha, who first picked up a club at the age of 13, said: “It’s nice to finally get my name on the trophy.
“I’ve never made it to the last day before, but tended to do well in the qualifying and get to the latter stages of the matchplay.
“My parents are really good, really supportive and they are very proud of me and it’s really nice to win something to back that up.”
