A YOUNG rugby union side are celebrating victory in North Tyneside’s annual rugby festival.
Percy Park Under-11s were able to wear their new strips which had been funded by Procter & Gamble employees.
More than 350 members of staff at the company’s manufacturing site in Seaton Delaval raised £1,000 for the team.
The players, aged between ten and 11, received new shorts, socks and shirts after being nominated by P&G employee Richard Hogg.
He said: “There were some very proud players and parents around on the day.
“I think there are more trophies in this team’s future, and with the new winter training tops on the way, they’re ready to train their way to the top.
“Nearly 40 children will benefit from the donation, which is just fantastic.”
Richard’s son, Oliver, ten, plays on the team and said: “We’re all really excited about the new strips.
“It makes us feel like a proper team and now we have a trophy to feel proud of too.”
