To see or not to see – that is the question for Benedict Cumberbatch fans keen to see his portrayal of Hamlet before the sellout stage show closes this month.

The William Shakespeare classic is London’s fastest-selling theatre production ever, with many play-goers queueing for hours to get tickets.

Those unable to get tickets are being given a second chance to see it at Vue cinemas nationwide, including Cramlington’s, however, thanks to a partnership deal with the National Theatre and Sony Digital Cinema 4K.

The Sherlock star’s performance as the melancholic prince will be streamed live to the Manor Walks cinema from the Barbican on Thursday, October 15, followed by encores on Thursdays, October 22 and 29.

Kevin Styles, managing director of Vue UK and Ireland, said: “The stage production of Hamlet has been an absolute smash hit, with tickets selling-out in record time.

“Some fans queued for hours to get a seat, but, unfortunately, many were left disappointed.

“Thanks to innovative technology and our exclusive partnership with Sony and the National Theatre, we are able to offer fans the ultimate encores and the best seat in the house.”

London-born Cumberbatch, 29, will be back on TV in BBC1’s Sherlock in December.
