The Whitley Bay Film Festival is turning the Spanish City into a multiplex cinema with up to six films per day being screened.
This includes on Sunday evening a special sci-fi night, featuring movies such as Wall-E and Terminator in the downstairs cinema and classics Logan’s Run and 2001 a Space Odyssey screened in the historic and atmospheric dome cinema.
Then on Friday, August 23, there is a superhero night, with four classics of the genre – Megamind, Kick Ass, The Dark Knight and Iron Man.
Prizes will be awarded to the best dressed superhero.
Film festival’s patron Ian La Frenais was asked which film he would like to see shown this year and he selected That’ll be The Day.
And organisers have invited the film’s screenwriter Ray Connolly to join a question and answer session about the movie which features a cast including famous musicians Billy Fury, Adam Faith, Ringo Starr and Keith Moon.
