A North Tyneside actor has been cast in the lead role in new psychological horror feature film, Monster.

Rod Glenn will be starring in the film, which is an adaptation of best-selling authors Matt Shaw and Michael Bray and has legendary horror author Shaun Hutson on-board as a script consultant.

Alongside Rod, the rest of the cast includes former Coronation Street star Tracy Shaw and former Eastenders star Danielle Harold.

Rod lives in Benton with wife, Vanessa.

His other roles include The Hippopotamus, American Assassin, The More You Ignore Me, Wolfblood, Vera, Ripper Street and Judge Rinder’s Crime Stories.

Monster is a horror film about the argument between nature and nurture.

It tells the harrowing tale of Richard, Mary and Andrew, a family of three. On the outside, Mary and Richard appear normal and their son, a deformed hulk of a 7ft monster rarely seen. Look closer though and see the true monsters as controlling Richard bullies his family into living the life he wants.

Principal photography for the film has now been completed and an advanced screening will take place at London HorrorCon in June.
