The Queen to be re-released for diamond jubilee

THE Oscar and BAFTA winning film The Queen will be re-released this weekend exclusively at Odeon cinemas to celebrate the diamond jubilee.

Odeon Silverlink will be showing the film, directed by Stephen Frears from a screenplay by Peter Morgan, on Saturday, June 2, and Monday, June 4.

The Queen stars Dame Helen Mirren as HM Queen Elizabeth II, Michael Sheen as Tony Blair, James Cromwell as Prince Phillip, Alex Jennings as Prince Charles, Helen McCrory as Cherie Blair and Sylvia Syms as the Queen Mother.

The Queen is a taught, intimate and revealing portrait of Queen Elizabeth II and the Royal Family in turmoil during the days immediately following the death of Princess Diana.

The film, originally released at cinemas in 2006, was an International box office success and won Best Film at the BAFTA Film Awards, and Dame Helen Mirren won the Oscar for Best Actress at the Academy Awards as well being victorious in collecting a Best Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

The Queen is a Granada Films and Pathé Production. Produced by Andy Harries, Christine Langan and Tracey Seaward with Executive Producers Francois Ivernel, Cameron McCracken and Scott Rudin.
