A charity concert is aiming to hit the right note as it pays tribute to a key figure.

The 33rd annual Carol Concert for CLIC Sargent, the children and young people’s cancer charity, will take place at Newcastle City Hall on Sunday, December 13.

It will feature the Newcastle Combined Hospitals Choir, New Tyneside Orchestra, senior choir of Kings Priory Academy, the Northern Doctors Chorus and the Choir of Highfield Middle School in Prudhoe.

The concert, which has raised over £200,000 in its 32 years, will be a tribute to the late Stephen Pettit ,who passed away earlier this year.

Stephen, of Whitley Bay, was the main organiser and conductor of the event for the last 32 years.

Dee Tyler, fundraising manager for CLIC Sargent, said: “I think it’s an incredible achievement for the committee that this event is going ahead this year given Stephen’s passing.

“They have worked so hard to pull it all together.

“It’s a fitting tribute to a truly wonderful man. I want to thank everyone for their time and effort.

“This year promises to be a special year.”

Tickets for the concert are priced from £4 and are available from The City Hall Box Office on 0191 261 2606 or at www.newcastlecityhall.org or at JG Windows Ltd on 0191 232 1356.

Alternatively they can be bought on the door. Doors open just before 3pm on Sunday, December 13.
