St John’s Methodist Church in Ilfracombe Gardens, Whitley Bay, is holding a Northumbrian Evening on Saturday, February 21, at 7pm.
Tickets for the event, which includes a supper of soup, stotty and border tart, cost £5.
Local historian Geoff Hughes will be entertaining diners with songs, stories and jokes with a Northumbrian theme.
Northumbrian Piper Susan Morgan will be supporting Geoff.
All proceeds from the Northumbrian Evening will be donated to the charity ‘Daft as a Brush’, which is St John’s chosen charity for the year.
Daft as a Brush arranges transport to and from the Freeman Hospital for patients having cancer treatment who would struggle to attend their appointments on public transport.
Volunteer driver for the charity Roger Stephenson said: “It’s a most wonderful service. For the patients it’s great for them to be picked up, taken for their appointment then dropped off at home.
“I feel, though, that I get more out of it than I put in.”
