Almost 100 Cubs, Scouts and Exploreres will take to the stage later this month for their bi-annual show.

And for the first time in six years, Showtime, a family variety performance is to be staged at the Playhouse, Whitley Bay.

Taking place from Thursday, January 21, to Saturday, January 23, it will see musical numbers and sketches from the youngsters, aged eight to 18 from Whitley Bay and District Scouts.

Tony Bennett, Assistant District Commissioner for WhitleyBay & District Scouts, said: “The Gang Show this year will include modern material combined with old traditions. We have an enthusiastic cast from eight and 18 years old and a superb ‘Cub Gang’, performing Geordie Jack and the Leek Stalk as well as popular songs, sketches and updated material.

“We are hoping our return to the Playhouse will be supported by its patrons and give our young people the experience they deserve.”

“The entire cast, crew and all involved have worked incredibly hard for months on the show, so we hope as many people as possible will come along and support us.”

Tickets are £10, under-18s £8, family £30. Performances are at 7pm, with a 2pm showing on Saturday.
