Four years on from Covid lockdown: 18 pictures of deserted towns and villages in north Northumberland

It’s four years ago this week since Northumberland largely shut down due to Covid-19.

Towns and villages were virtually deserted after tougher movement restrictions were introduced to try and limit the spread of coronavirus.

Residents were urged to stay at home except for essential shopping, medication and exercise once a day.
