New era for opticians
D.J. Preston Ophthalmic Opticians, in Blyth, has been acquired by family run Geoff Stevens & Sons following David Preston’s retirement.
It is now bring run by Mark and Christopher Steven, the third generation of optometrists in the family.

Hide AdThe Blyth practice was originally opened by Alexander Wilson as a chemist on Bridge Street in 1921. In 1946, Walter Scott opened the opticians on the first floor above the pharmacy.
In 1991, David Preston bought the practice.
Geoff Steven & Sons also has practices in Hexham, Haltwhistle and Ponteland.
Mark said: “We look forward to welcoming both new and existing patients to the practice where they will be assured a warm welcome and would like to wish David Preston a long and happy retirement.”
