The famous landmark has made the UK’s selfie bucket list – Great British landmarks people most want to take a selfie at before they die.

The survey of 1,000 people by coach company National Express was conducted to help inspire people with travel ideas for the forthcoming Bank Holiday weekend at the end of the month.

It also revealed 10 per cent of people admit to having booked a holiday solely because of its potential to take great selfies, which, if representative of the UK as a whole, would equate to more than 30,000 people in Northumberland.

The company says that Alnwick Castle’s inclusion on the list may have been spurred on by its popularity as a filming location – most recognisably in the Harry Potter series of films.

Others to make the list were Stonehenge; Edinburgh Castle; Big Ben; Ben Nevis; Roman Baths at Bath; Angel of the North; Eden Project; Blackpool Tower; and Brighton Pier.
