Alnwick wins contest to be named as UK's favourite film and TV location
The town beat 21 other destinations to win Hotel Info's Star Locations Competition 2016 - a search to find the town or city in the UK with the most ‘star’ quality. The nominees included towns and cities where a movie or TV show was filmed and with a population of between 2,000 and 60,000.
Alnwick was the only destination in Northumberland to make the shortlist and its credits include Harry Potter, Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves and Downton Abbey, among others.
Alnwick fended off competition from a high-calibre list of destinations, with Windsor coming second, and Fort William, Tetbury and Wells in joint third.
