The Potted Lobster, opened just under two years ago by renowned chef Richard Sim, has been specially selected for the 2018 Michelin Guide.

It is a massive coup for the eatery and Richard is delighted to receive such recognition.

He said: “The staff and I are over the moon. One of the pleasing things is that we didn’t go out looking to be included in the guide, rather the guide came to us.”

Asked what the secret to the success has been, Richard said: “I have a great team around me, providing continuity, and we use quality local produce, which is the key.

“I would like to thank all of our customers, my staff and our suppliers.”

As well as fresh-fish dishes, The Potted Lobster’s menu includes meat and vegetarian options.

Describing the restaurant, Michelin Guide inspectors wrote: ‘A sweet, homely bistro hung with dramatic local seascapes; sit outside for a view of the majestic castle. Classic dishes come in large portions. Check the blackboard for the latest catch; the squid and oysters are must-tries.’

Earlier this year, the restaurant won the Taste Award at the inaugural Northumberland Tourism Awards.

And last week, it was announced that the venue is a finalist in the North East England Tourism Awards.
