Among the forthcoming county events were a visit to the Biscuit Factory in Newcastle, a lunch at Cresswell House, and learning how to make a ‘Whitework lavender bag’.

We had also received an invitation from Belford WI to an early celebration of the Queen’s 90th birthday.

Our monthly lunch club will be at the Potted Lobster on February 25, and our quiz night will be on February 29 in the Castle Inn, at 7.30pm.

Our speaker for the afternoon was Mr Andrew Bardgett, who gave a talk on his life as a funeral director.

Although he had trained as an engineer, he told us how he had gone into the ‘family business’.

His talk was illustrated with slides, and included several comical situations.

We certainly had a great insight into the world of funerals.

The competition was won by Janet Wilkinson and the raffle by Gill Bardgett.

We are delighted to welcome new members and visitors.

We meet at 2pm every second Wednesday in Bamburgh Pavilion.
