Communities take part in the Great British Spring Clean
In Rothbury, helpers collected two bags of glass bottles and jars, several bags of ordinary waste and several more of recyclable items.
The weirdest object was a car wheel, and four chairs which Fran Elson fished out of the River Coquet. Pictured above is Katie Scott, queen of the rubbish, with the rubbish and Rothbury Rubbish Friends.
Tidy-ups also took place in Alnwick on Friday and Sunday.

The main focus was on key areas of the town, including the Roxburgh Place car park, the bus station, Bondgate cobbles and Greenwell Lane, and involved litter-picking, sweeping, weeding and general tidying.
Staff from McDonald’s also did an extra clean up on the Shilbottle Road.
Alnwick Mayor Alan Symmonds said: “It is always heart-warming when people take pride in their town. Just looking around the town it’s clear to see what was done over the two days and the town certainly benefitted from the extra tidy.

The tidy-up in Alnwick was supported by Northumberland County Council.
