Competitors are wanted to enter strongman event
And organisers are planning to add an arm-wrestling challenge to the proceedings.
Both competitions will be open to men and women.
The events will take place on Friday, August 10, and are being run by Olly Dial, of the town’s Elite Fitness Super Gym, and Jonathan Park, from Alnwick’s Halifax branch.

Last year’s competition – the first in a decade – attracted a competitive field and a large crowd of cheering spectators.
Jonathan said: “When I came up with the idea to relaunch the strongman competition last year, after a gap of 10 years, I didn’t know whether it would be a one-off.
“However, with the support of Olly who helped organise the competitors, it seemed to be really well received with a large crowd out to watch the event and thousands following via live streaming.

This year’s strongman/woman contests have received support from Grant Welsh, of Alnwick Specsavers, who has donated £500 to pay for the road closure.
