Holy Island Coastguard called to help car stuck on causeway

The Holy Island coastguard was called out to assist with a car which was stuck on the causeway.

Teams were paged at around 10.20pm on Tuesday, August 18 to reports that a car had became stuck in the sand on the Holy Island causeway.

The coastguard attended the scene to ensure the occupants of the vehicle were safe and assisted until the car was recovered.

The Holy Island Coastguard Facebook page says crews remained at the scene until 12.30am on Wednesday, August 19. No one was hurt.

A spokesperson said: “At around 10.20pm, the Holy Island Coastguard were paged to a car stuck in the sand on the causeway.

Shortly after, at around 2.45am, crews were back out as Seahouses Lifeboat transported paramedics to the island following a patient suffering a suspected heart attack.
