Kind-hearted teacher collects Christmas gifts for those fleeing domestic abuse

Kimberley Sharp, from Morpeth wanted to help those families who are less fortunate by donating gifts so that children can still ‘have their Christmas wish’.

The teacher has set up ‘A Child’s Wish’ Facebook page so people can donate gifts by delivering them to Kimberley’s home, or to the Dawn to Dusk club or gifts can be collected.

Kimberley said: “This year has been so tough so I wanted to try and think of something I could do to help families in the community.

"I can’t believe the response I’ve had from people, we already have so many gifts, it’s fantastic.

"The community spirit is amazing and when I drop those presents off, I will be massively proud.”

Ms Sharp is collecting ‘new’ toys, due to covid restrictions, and clothing for children aged between 7 months and 12-years-old as well as things like toiletries for parents.

She added: “I wanted to give back to those families who might not have Christmas presents this year, everybody deserves gifts at Christmas!

"I really doubted myself at first because I thought I would collect a few presents here and there but I didn’t think it would matter as long as I was helping in some way.

"I am so surprised at how well the page is doing, I am so grateful for everybody’s support.”
