Northumberland rescue dogs waiting to find their forever homes

A Northumberland dog rescue charity has seen an influx of homeless pooches looking for a permanent place to live.

Many of the latest arrivals at the Northumberland Dog Rescue (NDR) site near Alnwick are victims of the drive to find lockdown companions during the pandemic, with some owners unable to look after the pets now life has returned to normal.

While they are very well looked after at NDR in comfortable kennels, with plenty of exercise on a large paddock or on walks with staff and volunteers, the charity is still keen to find them permanent homes.

The four-legged friends are placed on food enrichment programmes and given toys to play with – they even have relaxing classic music piped into the kennels. Many of the dogs arrive with behavioural issues that staff will work on before the dogs are deemed suitable for adoption.

Here is a selection of some of the dogs hoping to find good homes, with general observations from NDR staff.

A couple of them are not yet up for adoption until they are fully assessed.

If you are interested in adopting a pet pooch, email [email protected] with as much information about yourself as possible. A home check will always apply.
