Show season starts in style
The annual event takes place just outside the village centre and sees a host of activities taking place.
It will be held on Saturday and with horticultural and industrial classes, as well as sheep dog trials (which took place last month), sheep classes, a hill race and children’s classes it is a true family day out.

Hide AdNew for this year there will be a circus workshop for youngsters to have a go and try out some new skills.
There will also be an archery display, pony sports, a terrier race and terrier show, Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling, a dog show, welly hoying, children’s sports and more on offer.
A new chairman is leading the show committee this year and chainsaw carver Ross McNeill will be returning to the event to create a work of art, which will be raffled at the end of the day.
There will also be a car boot sale.
Judging for all exhibits will start in the show marquee at 11am.

Hide AdThe hill race will also start at 11am, as do pony sports and jumping.
Children’s sports and the terrier show are at 1pm, while the dog show is at 2pm, and Cumberland and Westmorland wrestling takes place at 2.15pm.
Terrier racing is at 3.30pm.
The marquee will open once judging has been completed, and prizes will be given out on the day.
All exhibits are to be staged by 10.30am, and these must remain until the committee allows them to be removed at 4.30pm.
