First win of season for Alnmouth

Alnmouth & Lesbury 1sts finally kickstarted their season with their first win in the Northumberland & Tyneside Cricket League Division 1 on Saturday.

They picked up 30 points for their 21 run home win over Swalwell 1sts, inspired by knocks of 79 from Robert Burnett and 62 not out from Harry Sutherland. They posted 191-7 with Swalwell 170 all out in reply, Paul Straker taking 4-35.

It was local derby day in Division 2 with Warkworth 1sts taking on Alnwick 1sts, and it was the home side who emerged with a three wicket victory. Alnwick made 152 all out with Jamie Guy on 31 and James Crooks on 30. Warkworth were 156-7 with Rhys James on 78.

In Division 3, Alnmouth & Lesbury 2nds had a big nine wicket away win over Allendale and they maintain their mid-table position. In a low scoring game, Allendale were all out for only 63, Nick Robertson taking 5-37, with the visitors easily reaching their target at 65-1.

In Division 5 North, Alnwick 2nds (133-4) won by six wickets at home against warenford, with Liam Murphy taking 6-19.

Howick suffered a 36-run defeat away to Ulgham 1sts. The home side were 143 all out with the visitors 107 all out in reply.

Rock are still searching for their first win of the season after going down to a 60-run defeat away to Monkseaton 1sts. Anthony Lion hit 92 for the home side as they opened with 175-5 in their 40 overs. Rock we’re never up with the run rate and we’re eventually 115-9 in their innings with Anthony Bottomer the top scorer on 22.

In Division 6 North, Embleton maintained their decent start to the season with a six wicket home win over Stobswood 2nds and they are just eight points behind leaders Berwick 2nds. Stobswood were 93-9 in their 40 overs with Embleton 96-3 in reply.

Wooler had a 21-run home win over Ulgham 2nds. The Glendale side batted first and with Ivor Patterson top scoring on 51 they put on 117 all out with Gavin Humphries taking four wickets. Ulgham were all out for 96 in reply with Laurie Blackburn taking 6-19.

Warkworth 2nds (105) won by 44 runs away to Bomarsund 2nds (61 all out).
