Amelia wins Muay Thai title belt

A North Shields girl has recently been successful at winning a major Muay Thai title belt.

Amelia Petrie, who is 15, travelled to Manchester where she won the ‘Magic of Thialand’ English title belt in Muay Thai.

She took the belt with a unanimous decision from the judges against her opponent, who she described as being ‘strong.’

Amelia lives in North Shields and is a pupil at the St Thomas More Academy.

She added: “I was thrilled to win the belt.

“I train Muay Thai at the Faktory with head coach Jim Burn and world champion Claire Clements.

“I currently work as a junior coach for the Faktory which is located in Whickham View.”​​​​​​​
